Friday, September 24, 2021
The Senior Center is hosting a Fall Prevention Walk on Friday, September 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Fifth-Third Gateway Park, located at 4231 Dayton-Xenia Road.
September is National Fall Prevention Month. The Beavercreek Senior Center is partnering with the Ohio Department of Aging for its 10 Million Steps to Prevent Falls campaign. This initiative encourages Ohioans of all ages to walk at least one mile during the month of September.
To help reach this goal, the Senior Center is hosting a Fall Prevention Walk on Friday, September 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Fifth-Third Gateway Park, located at 4231 Dayton-Xenia Road.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one-fourth of Americans ages 65 and older fall each year. Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults.
The importance of fall prevention is crucial in order to maintain one’s independence and preserve quality of life.
Help the Senior Center increase awareness about falls health and injury prevention by putting on your walking shoes and joining them on September 24!
