City of Beavercreek's Electric Aggregation Program: Opt-Out Letter Coming Soon

Dynegy

City of Beavercreek residents and small business owners will soon receive an opt-out letter to the city’s electric aggregation program in the mail.

In mid-June 2023, residents and small business owners will receive an opt-out letter from Dynegy. This letter will contain detailed information about the electric aggregation program, including terms and conditions, as well as instructions on how to opt-out of the program if you choose to do so. The city’s electric aggregation program, established in November 2003, was created to help city residents and small business owners save money on their electric bills by securing competitively priced electricity through a group buying power approach. The current agreement with Dynegy, which offers a fixed rate of 4.580 cents per kWh, is set to expire in August 2023.

Following the City Council's decision during their April 10, 2023 meeting, the city is proud to announce the renewal of the electric aggregation program for another 24-month term. Through a competitive bid process, Dynegy has been selected as the supplier for the upcoming cycle, offering a fixed price of 6.928 cents per kWh. This new rate will be applied to customers' bills starting in August 2023 and will remain in effect until August 2025. Additionally, customers will have the option to choose a renewable energy alternative at 7.310 cents per kWh.

If you wish to join or continue participating in the program, no action is required on your part. If you do not have an existing agreement with another electric supplier and choose not to opt out, you will be automatically enrolled into the program. There are no enrollment, switching, or early termination fees associated with the program, and you are free to opt in or out of the program at any time without penalty.

If you prefer to explore alternative options, you may consider selecting a third-party supplier. A comprehensive list of available providers can be accessed at Ohio Energy Choice. To determine your current energy supplier, please refer to the back of your most recent billing statement under supply charges.

The city encourages residents and community members to review the opt-out letter. For additional questions, visit our website or contact Dynegy directly at (888) 682-2170.
