The Beavercreek Police Department announced that Officer David Durkin has been named Community Engagement Officer, effective Jan. 11, 2026.
Durkin is a 10-year veteran of the department and has served in a variety of patrol-related assignments. His experience includes roles as a Crisis Intervention Team member, Evidence Technician, Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor and Officer-in-Charge.
As Community Engagement Officer, Durkin will coordinate crime prevention and community engagement events, activities and programs, and provide public education on community policing objectives and practices. He will play a key role in planning and conducting youth and community programs such as Safety Town, the Citizens Police Academy, department open houses and National Night Out.
Durkin will also work closely with the city’s communications director to promote police department events, news and special programs through the department’s social media platforms. Durkin is enthusiastic about the new role and looks forward to continuing to strengthen partnerships between the police department and the community.
The department also announced that former Community Engagement Officer Travis O’Neill has been reassigned to a detective position within the department.
