Biography

Glen Duerr was appointed to City Council in April 2020 and then elected to a four-year term in November 2021. Born and raised in the UK, Duerr lived in Canada for a decade earning B.A. and M.A. degrees, before moving to Ohio in 2006 to start his Ph.D. in Political Science at Kent State University. 

In his career, Glen Duerr serves as a Professor of International Studies at Cedarville University, teaching courses on international relations, comparative politics, and research methods (quantitative and qualitative) among others. In 2016, he was awarded the Faculty Teaching Effectiveness Award at Cedarville University, and, in 2017, won the Southwest Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE)'s Faculty Excellence Award.

Dr. Duerr is the author/editor of three books, and has also published 35 academic journal articles and book chapters. He is a frequently sought after political commentator in the news and has conducted more than 750 interviews for local, national, and international news outlets. 

Glen is also active in the community where he has taken on roles in his neighborhood and in the city. He and his wife, Rebecca, are members of University Baptist Church where they serve in a number of different capacities, including Glen's role as a Deacon. 

Glen and Rebecca have three children: Declan, Harper, and Camille, all of whom attend Beavercreek City schools or are in preschool. He is a former semi-professional soccer player, and remains active running half-marathons and playing golf.
