The Beavercreek Police Department is now accepting applications for its annual Citizens Police Academy, a free program designed to give Beavercreek residents and business owners a closer look at the policies and procedures of local law enforcement.

The program, hosted by Beavercreek police officers, will run Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning Sept. 10 through Oct. 29. An additional session is also scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the department’s firearm range.

The academy offers participants a unique opportunity to engage directly with officers and gain first-hand insight into the daily operations of the police department. Course topics will include the criminal justice system, patrol procedures, traffic and drug enforcement, firearms training, and more.

Attendees will also have the chance to ride along with a police officer, providing an up-close view of how officers serve the Beavercreek community.

Applicants are asked to commit to attending at least six of the eight classes to get the most out of the experience.

More information, including the application, is available here.
