[ARCHIVED] City of Beavercreek Updates Logo

1-Stacked-4C

Press Release: 11/8/2019

New Logo to Update Beavercreek’s Image:

After nearly a two year process working with Schlegel Creative Resources (SCR) including city
council work sessions, a subcommittee and multiple presentations, the City of Beavercreek is
pleased to announce the rebranding of their logo.  The new logo was approved by Beavercreek City
Council at their October 28th meeting.

The city began its rebranding efforts three years ago through the use of social media, press
releases and other  communications.   It  quickly  became  evident  that  the  “look”  or  image
of  the  city  was  outdated including  the  colors  (maroon,  gold  and  others)  with  many
inconsistent  versions.   Other  departments including the Parks, Golf and Senior Center had
developed other logos and or different variations that did not correspond together.  “The strength
of any brand is its consistent use. The development of this new brand helps build a strong unified
image of the City of Beavercreek”, said Dan Schlegel of SCR.  In addition to  SCR,  the  city  also
received  input  from  a  local  artist  and  a  graphic  designer  who  assisted  with  final
critiques, input and changes.

During the process, the city considered many changes, including the total removal of the “Beaver”
but felt that  the  Beaver  was  still  important  to  our  identity.   Instead  of  making  the
Beaver  more  detailed  or prominent (like the school district) a more modern approach was taken by
moving to a more stylized form.

The transition to the new logo will be done in a responsible and economical way.  Most changes are
digital in nature including social media, emails and websites.    The stone monument signs will
remain, with no plans of replacement.  The city will update other items as needed.

The new logo utilizes updated and modern colors.   The city’s logo is not the same as the school
district, as the school district maintains their separate logo and will continue to use the orange
and black colors. The city has never utilized the school colors.  While the school district has a
separate identity focusing on the school, students and sports, the city’s focus is city services,
functions and external image.

The city’s image goes beyond the city’s border and makes a statement about the community.  “The
image we want to project is that we take pride on our community and that we are a modern, updated,
cool, business friendly, family oriented city, just a great place to live work and play”, said City
Manager Pete Landrum.  “By utilizing modern and updated colors and font with a new twist to the
Beaver, the new logo says all of these things”, he said.

The new logo has multiple variations for flexibility of use including a horizontal and vertical
formats along with solid colors, black, white and greyscale versions.  The link below is the logo
guidelines with the various logo options along with various concepts of use.
