The City of Beavercreek Public Service Department hosted their 9th Annual Snow Day event on Thursday, November 7, 2019. This annual event showcases the Public Service Department’s readiness and ability to control hazardous road conditions created by the inclement weather conditions as another Ohio winter quickly approaches. Public Service Department staff demonstrated the use of snow removal equipment in a mock cul-de-sac along with other obstacles that portrayed the challenges faced by snow plow operators each season.
Along with the snow removal equipment demonstrations, the event included a staff luncheon and afternoon training for all operations staff. The Beavercreek Police Department assisted in training staff regarding accident procedures and safe driving considerations, while the Fleet Maintenance mechanics discussed the importance of reporting maintenance issues and keeping the fleet in good working order.
The City of Beavercreek Snow Day has quickly evolved into an event that staff and elected officials look forward to every year. Public Works Department operators are given a unique opportunity to share their skills and knowledge about snow removal with City Council, while the elected officials get a first-hand glimpse of the pride our operators take in maintaining over 550 miles of roadway each year.
