After closure since-mid March, staff at the Beavercreek Senior Center is looking forward to a phased reopening beginning Monday, October 5.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Beavercreek Senior Center has been supporting seniors with virtual, drive-through, and remote programming. Parks, Recreation & Culture opportunities have been extended to them outside the Senior Center walls and the popular Senior Transportation Program has been running with new safety protocols in place. The reopening of the senior center will expand senior services by increasing important health and wellness opportunities through our fitness room and additional recreation classes. The Center library will also open in the first phase of reopening. Remote and virtual programming will continue, as well as monthly “Drive-Through Special Events.”
Members are required to call the Beavercreek Senior Center in advance of each visit to make an appointment. Members will be asked screening questions and have their temperature taken before entering the facility. Masks or face coverings will be required for all Center visitors, and new cleaning and sanitization procedures have been put in place. Staff and volunteers are being tested for COVID-19 prior to opening and every two weeks after that.
“Our entire staff is excited to finally welcome our members back to the Center, with all safety precautions in place, and continue serving our Beavercreek Seniors”, said Senior Center Supervisor, Tyler Barlage. Staff has been working hard to prepare the Center for a safe reopening. “It is important to realize that phase one of our reopening will be very different from our normal senior center operations. However, we hope that with each new reopening phase, we continue to get closer to ‘normal’. Our top priority right now is to provide the services our members need in the safest way possible,” Barlage said.
The Beavercreek Senior Center is located at 3868 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek. Facility hours will be limited at first, open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday – Friday. Appointments must be made in advance of your visit by contacting 937-426-6166.
