Opportunities to Serve

Vacancies on city boards, commissions and committees offer the City of Beavercreek citizens opportunities to serve their community.  There are a number of vacancies on certain boards, commissions and committees.



Candidates must presently live within the City of Beavercreek limits and be registered voters.   These volunteer positions are appointed by the City Council for a specified term (usually three years).



The City Council is assisted and advised by several standing citizen boards and commissions.  In addition to standing boards and commissions, special ad hoc citizen task forces and committees are periodically established by the City Council to study, advice and assist the city concerning specific topics and issues.

Terms are three years and run from March 1 – February 28 (29) unless otherwise noted.  To be considered for the current upcoming vacancies please submit your application by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021.


Current Opportunities:


Bikeway and Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Committee (BANTAC)

There is one (1) vacancy on the committee.  The BANTAC facilities non-motorized travel within the city by advocating the proper planning and implementation of non-motorized improvements.  Some of the responsibilities include ensuring implementation and effectiveness of the Beavercreek Bikeway Plan, providing assistance to the City Council and Planning Commission on non-motorized issues, and advocating for increased access and improved safety.


Board of Zoning Appeals

There is one (1) vacancy on the board.  The Board of Zoning Appeals hears and determines applications for variances from the provisions of the Zoning code and appeals of administrative decisions.  The commission meets the second Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council chamber at City Hall.


Environmental Advisory Committee

There are three (3) vacancies on the committee. This committee assists the City council in developing policies and regulations to protect the environment.  The committee meets the second Tuesday of each month in the Planning Department Conference Room at City Hall.


Parks, Recreation and Culture Board

There are three (3) vacancies on this board.  The Parks, Recreation and Culture Board recommends programs for the conduct of public parks, recreational and cultural facilities and advises City Council on recreational matters.  This board meets are the second Tuesday of each month in the Council Chamber.


Personnel Board

There is one (1) vacancy on this board.  The Personnel Board hears appeals from any non-exempt employee who has successfully completed a probationary period upon such issues as may be subject to appeal as defined by rules established pursuant to Section 65.8 (Personnel Rules and Regulations).  This board meets on an as needed basis.


Planning Commission

There is one (1) vacancy on the commission.  The commission is charged with the responsibility for comprehensive and long-range planning for the physical development of the city.  The commission adopts and recommends to the City Council a comprehensive general plan for the physical development of the city, holds full control over platting and subdivision of land and recommends to the City Council policies and ordinances for the proper development of land.  The commission meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall.


Tax Incentive Review Council

There is one (1) vacancy on the council.  The Tax Incentive Review Council reviews all agreements granting exemptions from property taxation and any performance or audit reports required by those agreements.  It also reviews all exemptions from property taxation resulting from the declaration of public purpose improvements along with reviewing the compliance of each recipient of a tax exemption with the nondiscriminatory hiring policies developed by the city.   The council meets on an annual basis, usually in February of each year.


Tree Advisory Board

There are two (2) vacancies on this board.  The tree Advisory Board advises City Council regarding the planting, care and removal of trees.  It recommends species and varieties of trees to be planted within the city, implements an Arbor Day observance on an annual basis and maintains on an annual basis, an inventory of City street trees.  The board meets the second Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. at the Maintenance Facility.


Youth Development Committee

There is an unlimited number that may serve on this committee.  All members shall be adults, over the age of twenty-one and may reside within the City of Beavercreek or Beavercreek Township or have a student attending school in the City of Beavercreek or Beavercreek Township.  This committee organizes teams to implement and promote youth programs and service-learning projects that will serve the needs of the community.  The committee shall also make recommendations to the City Council and City Manager on youth community service volunteering and other matters concerning younger residents of the City.  The committee meets every second Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the Lofino Plaza Meeting Room.
