The City of Beavercreek is proud to share that several of its staff members and volunteers have graduated from the intensive two-year Tree Commission Academy provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry. This achievement reflects the city's commitment to enhancing its urban forestry knowledge and promoting sustainable practices.
The comprehensive curriculum of the Tree Commission Academy covers a wide array of topics for effective tree management, including tree biology, urban soils, identification and control of destructive pests, tree planting and maintenance techniques, tree ordinances, master planting design, tree selection criteria, and urban forestry budgeting.
Among the graduates are Don Shipley, a member of the city’s Tree Advisory Board, along with Joey Shope and Mark Dietz from the city’s Public Services Division. Additionally, Josh Kirschbaum, Jason Clymer, and Joel Sorah from the city’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Division have graduated from the academy.
In total, 13 city employees and volunteers have graduated from the Ohio Division of Forestry’s Tree Commission Academy. This milestone underscores the city's proactive approach to investing in education and professional development. The city remains dedicated to fostering a greener and healthier community.
