As election season nears, the City of Beavercreek is reminding residents about the guidelines for temporary ground signs, including political and garage sale signs. To ensure compliance, all temporary signs must be placed on private property and are strictly prohibited within public right-of-ways.
According to city regulations, the public right-of-way typically extends to the back of the sidewalk. For areas without sidewalks, signs should be placed at least 15 feet from the edge of the roadway. Along major roadways, this distance may be greater. Additionally, temporary signs must not obstruct visibility or pose any hazards by blocking lines of sight.
In residential districts, temporary signs are limited to six square feet per sign face or 12 square feet total for double-sided signs. Signs may not be affixed to utility poles, fences, or trees.
