City council and staff of the City of Beavercreek extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of former Mayor Candy Prystaloski, who recently passed away.
Candy dedicated her life to serving Beavercreek and Greene County in countless ways. Her deep commitment to local government began with her service on the City of Beavercreek’s Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission. Candy went on to serve as a member of City Council, including roles as Vice Mayor and Mayor in 1990.
Candy was also deeply involved in the Greene County community. She served on the Greene County Children’s Services Board and Greene County Regional Planning Commission, as well as played a pivotal role in the approval and development of Angel’s Pass Memorial Park on Factory Road in Beavercreek, a tribute to a group of Girl Scouts who tragically lost their lives in a car accident.
In addition to her public service, Candy was a local realtor, using her expertise to help residents find their homes in the community she loved so dearly.
Candy was a steadfast advocate for our military. As a longtime auxiliary member of VFW Post 8312 and an original member of the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association, she served as president and events chair, organizing meaningful activities. She also partnered with Gold Star families to establish a memorial at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
Candy’s accolades include the 2020 Greene County Women's Hall of Fame Community Service Award and the 2006 Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce Military Person of the Year Award.
Services for Candy will be held on January 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. and on January 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the service beginning at 1 p.m. at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek. Candy will be interred alongside her husband, Donald Prystaloski, in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Click here to read Candy’s obituary.
