[ARCHIVED] Beavercreek Police Partner with Voices of Greene County

Beavercreek Police Partner With Voices of Greene County

In July 2017, The Beavercreek Police Department partnered with the Greene County Board of Developmental Disabilities Self-Advocacy Team, the Voices of Greene County, to provide input and assist as guest speakers during the team’s personal safety presentations.  The presentations offer developmentally disabled people safety tips and strategies on various topics such as internet safety, home safety, meeting new people, and being prepared for different weather conditions.  In addition to the personal safety presentations, Voices of Greene County team members provide disability awareness training, which they presented to Beavercreek Police Department employees at the annual department meeting on January 31, 2018.

Beavercreek Police Chief Dennis L. Evers stated, “The Beavercreek Police Department is always looking to expand its community engagement efforts and this association is another example of the department’s commitment to further its mission of working in partnership with the community. This collaboration has given our officers a better understanding of those living with developmental disabilities. We have been able to present information to these individuals on how to have safe interactions with police as well as safety tips they can use in their daily lives.”

On March 2, 2018, members of the Beavercreek Police Department will be guest speakers at the Self Advocacy and Personal Safety Conference presented by the Voices of Greene County and Voices Matter of Montgomery County Self-Advocacy Teams.  The conference will be held at the Wright State Student Union in the Apollo Conference Room.
