Kemp Road Widening Project

The City of Beavercreek, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation, is proposing improvements to Kemp Road between Meadowcourt Drive and Bluewing Drive. These improvements include widening the road from the existing two through lanes to three lanes (two through lanes and a center two-way left turn lane), installing an eight-foot-wide sidewalk along the north side of Kemp Road, and adding a five-foot-wide sidewalk along the south side of Kemp Road. The project will also involve the addition of curbs, gutters, and storm sewers along both sides of Kemp Road (see project area location map below).

It is anticipated that this project will require both temporary and permanent right-of-way from properties adjacent to the project area. Should the final project design affect your property, a right-of-way representative will contact you as soon as definite information becomes available. Short-duration closures of Kemp Road will be necessary for culvert and temporary pavement installation, and side streets will also experience brief closures for proposed pavement construction. Access to properties will be maintained, and anticipated detour routes will be provided as the project progresses. Utility impacts are expected and will be communicated accordingly. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 and is expected to last approximately one year.

Environmental surveys and studies are ongoing to determine potential impacts. One pond and one stream are anticipated to be affected. All necessary waterway permits will be obtained before construction begins.

Funding 

The funding for this project includes 70% federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds ($1,872,500) and 30% local street levy funds ($802,500), for a total of $2.67 million. However, the current construction estimate is $4.2 million, creating a funding gap. The city is actively exploring additional grant opportunities to help offset the additional local funding required.

Open House

The City of Beavercreek and the Ohio Department of Transportation hosted an open house to discuss the proposed improvements to Kemp Road on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
