Indian Ripple Road (CR 36) Improvement Project
The City of Beavercreek, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), is proposing a roadway improvement project along approximately 0.85 miles of Indian Ripple Road (County Road 36) in the City of Beavercreek, Greene County, Ohio. Right-of-way acquisition will be necessary to complete this work. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027 and be completed by fall 2027.
The proposed improvements include widening the existing two-lane roadway to three lanes and installing an 8-foot-wide sidewalk along the south side of the roadway from Baronwood Boulevard to the eastern city limit (just west of South Alpha Bellbrook Road). The project will also include drainage upgrades, such as curbs, gutters, and storm sewers, as well as culvert work, utility relocations, and improvements to vertical curves.
To ensure the project's viability and success, the City of Beavercreek is hosting a public meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the project and proposed improvements with the community, answer questions, and gather public input before making final decisions. Those interested are encouraged to attend and participate in this in-person meeting.
Funding
The majority of this project is funded through grants, with a significant portion coming from federal sources. The segment from Baronwood to Woodview East is supported by 60% federal funding - $1,196,400 from the Surface Transportation Program (STP) and Transportation Alternatives (TA) funds - while the remaining 40%, or $797,600, comes from local street levy funds.
For the section from Woodview East to the eastern corporate limit, federal funding covers an even larger share. The Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program contributes 79% of the costs, or $2,113,250, while local funds account for the remaining 21%, or $561,750.
In total, the project receives $3,309,650 in federal funding and $1,359,350 in local contributions, bringing the overall cost to approximately $4,669,000.
The Baronwood to Woodview East segment secured funding through the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) in the 2021 round of STP and TA grants, with official notification received in March 2022. The Woodview East to eastern corporate limit segment was submitted for CMAQ funding in 2022, and in late 2023, the state CMAQ committee approved the grant through MVRPC.
To comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which applies to all federally funded projects, both segments were combined into a single project. This approach ensures regulatory compliance, prevents segmentation issues, and allows for a more efficient project execution.
